MEDITATION Meditation is the practice of watching your mind think/wander. You cannot watch and be what you are watching at the same time. Meditation is not the same as prayer or contemplation. Prayer often means asking for something from someone other than yourself. Contemplation means to dwell on thoughts or concepts. Meditaion means to listen within. To listen, you must stop talking. Trusting that everything is exactly the way it should be, now at this present moment and always, not like you think it should be. - The meditator rests in the timeless.
To understand what happens during meditation, we must first have some sort of understanding of consciousness, which is the knowing principle. A being can be in a high state of consciousness or a low state, depending on the degree of avidya (mis-knowing or ignorance) Avidya can cloud consciousness, so that it is as if we are trying to see who we are in a dirty mirror, and mistake the dirt for our face.
The practice of yoga and meditation are psychotherapeutic methods to cleaning the mirror of consciousness. They are design to free the practitioner of despair and depression and from dependence on external substances or external conditions for achieving HAPPINESS. Liliana will guide the student thru several different techniques to learn to meditate.
